Incorporated in June of 1974, Millersburg sits in the heart of the fertile Willamette Valley. This rapidly growing city, with a small town feel, offers beautiful parks with many amenities. The City is known for its large concentration of industries, including rare metals and wood products manufacturing, as well as its agricultural history.
Located along I-5, Millersburg provides easy access to Salem (20 min), Eugene (45 min), and Portland (60 min) and immediate access to neighboring Albany. The Oregon coast is just over an hour’s drive west, and you can be skiing or hiking in the Cascade Mountains in less than two hours. With a population of 3,096 and growing, Millersburg gives you that country feeling with big city facilities and recreational opportunities close at hand.
The City is responsible for the water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, storm water collection system, transportation system, and review of public improvements related to growth and development. Millersburg’s water and wastewater treatment plants are jointly owned and managed through intergovernmental agreements with the City of Albany. The two communities, through close working relationships, coordinate water and wastewater projects. Interns may work on a wide variety of projects and assignments involving planning, studies, design, project management, project/permit review, budget planning, and inspection services. An intern can expect to be exposed to a variety of civil disciplines including transportation, water and wastewater systems, stormwater and environmental management, and project management. Though Millersburg is small, rapid development means there are many small and large projects taking place continuously.
