Interns with AECOM Portland typically work within the three larger business lines within the office; Water Resources, Transportation, and Environment.

The Portland AECOM Water group performs technical design, planning, and computer modeling on projects related to flooding, dams, sediment transport, reservoirs, levees, water supply systems, stormwater, drainage, watershed management, culverts, and stream and environmental restoration.

The Portland AECOM Transportation group is involved in design and support of various transportation modes and systems throughout the country. With a large focus on light-rail design and support, the Transportation group works closely with public agencies to design the civil, pedestrian, and bike infrastructure that moves us everyday.

The Portland Environment group is separated into our Remediation Practice, Impact assessment and permitting (IAP) Practice and Sustainability Practice. The Environment group covers projects that cover a wide array of project types. These include: environmental investigations and cleanup programs using industry leading remediation design, and environmental engineering, geological and chemical services; environmental impact assessment, wetland delineation, and associated permitting processes; cultural resources including archeology; sustainable design and sustainability services; environmental health and safety (EHS); climate adaptation/disaster resilience; and air quality.
