Event Dress Code

The dress code for all MECOP/CECOP events is business professional. Wear clean, pressed, comfortable clothing suitable for an interview. Even if the specified event isn't a formal sit down interview, company representatives are still getting to know you for an internship placement or potential employment after graduation. It is appropriate to dress professionally unless stated otherwise (ex: touring a construction site / manufacturing facility where jeans and safety gear are required).

Examples of Appropriate Event Attire

  • Blazer or suit jacket
  • Button-up shirt, polo, or blouse (solid or subtle pattern)
  • Dress slacks or tailored pants
  • Skirt (knee-length or longer)
  • Professional dress (simple, structured, and not overly casual)
  • Shoes - closed-toe (flats, loafers, or low heels)
  • Accessories - simplistic (watch, stud earrings, or minimal jewelry)
  • Hair - neatly styled and tidy, away from the face (facial hair well-groomed)
  • Avoid wearing visible logos, loud prints, or overly bright colors
  • Clothing should be wrinkle-free, clean, and well-fitting
Keep in mind that the above recommendations are not all encompassing nor are they only way to present yourself that would be deemed appropriate by employers. There are many ways to dress professionally that are not covered by the above examples.

Considerations Regarding Attire

  1. Please note that many of the events, especially the Company Expo, will require walking or waiting/standing for extended periods. Because of this, make sure the shoes you wear are comfortable while making sure they are still appropriate in a business environment.
  2. If you do not have any business attire and cannot go out to rent / buy anything due to lockdown, quarantine or affordability, conservative business appropriate clothing will suffice. The point is to present yourself in a professional manner.
